GRASS TO GRACE!
Job 8:7 – Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase. (KJV)
Read: 1 Samuel 16:13
“Grass to Grace” is a common term generally used to describe a movement from a lower rank of one’s status to a higher level. The Bible gives examples of people who moved from grass to grace. Genesis 37 records the story of Joseph, whose beginning was so full of hatred that his elders sold him out. But little did the brothers know they were helping him fulfil his destiny. When people wage war against you, don’t worry! They are paving the way for your ascension to the top.
David was another fellow who ascended from obscurity to the limelight. The boy was only considered fit to feed the sheep in the backyard, but God inspired Samuel to ask his father (Jesse) if anyone remained after the elder brothers had been presented for anointing. Jesse then presented David for anointing as king.
Several years ago, I worked in a place where I thought my potential was being wasted. But I later realised God was building me for the next level because the skills and experience I needed for the task ahead were developed at this time.
Beloved, it doesn’t matter your present status or suffering. As today’s Bible reading reveals, never despise the days of your small beginning. Maybe you come from a poor background; don’t allow it to push you to the ground. In Christ, your glorious future is certain. If Joseph and David could move from the least to the mountaintop, God can move you from grass to grace, even tonight.
PRAYER
Hymn: Higher Ground — Johnson Oatman, Jr. (1898)
1. Father, I am tired of the grass-level of sickness, marital delays, and hardship. Please move me to my grace land (mention).
2. Father, please turn my mockery and shame to glory and cause me to sing a new song.
(MIDNIGHT PRAYER)
1. Father, please send me an angel tonight and always, to rescue me and pave the way for my breakthroughs.
2. Holy Spirit, please overshadow my life and make my impossibilities possible!
3. Lord Jesus, help me and the Church to trust You in all circumstances.
